55019 has come to the conclusion of its period of renovation. Over the past 20 months there has been many different areas of work ranging from small electrical fixes right up to a fresh paint job. The last few issues have been resolved allowing for testing and examination with a C exam being completed and a short test run on the Springwell Branch at Barrow Hill. The testing went well, with only a few air leaks to be sorted and the loco is good to go back out to heritage railways. Over the next few weeks, the final touches will be made to the fine paintwork that our in-house team has done and the return of the loco’s own air tank from repair. It is due to travel to the Great Central Railway on the 5th August to participate in regular running and driver experience turns. The locomotive is in good health with the AWS/TPWS system working, and with the other main line equipment procured, the ambitious project to see 55019 back on the main line is moving forward. The future is looking good for Royal Highland Fusilier.
