D9015. Saturday 27th July saw a very big step forward when following further checks on the electrical circuits on D9015 and prepping both units, firstly 538 was rolled over to see if it would turn and all appeared to go well with several further tries and no issues found. A short while later the same tests took place with 417 and again, all went to plan. A credit to all those involved in getting us to this stage. These were not Power Tests but purely to see if the units motored, and they surely did.
Further work on D9015 saw the driver's window No 2 end completed and a start on fabricating the new cab floor sections, these are being made from a high spec material which is oil/grease resistant on the surface and fire retardant underneath. All the Perspex cab side windows had a further clean and polish with more G3 Compound.
This picture by Daniel Sterland shows the exhaust coming from unit 538, the 'Delectricans' had isolated some circuity to prevent power being taken and the feed supply of the fuel to the governor was also tripped to avoid the engine firing inside the Depot. At some point in the near future, weeks not months, the loco will be given a full test but it will be done in stages. A public start up event will be organised when we feel it is 100% ready.
55019. We were very pleased to see the return of the Main Reservoir air tank for 'A side which developed a hole due to corrosion, unfortunately at the last minute our contractors found that one of the end caps was below minimum specification so we took the option to have both ends replaced. The 'borrowed' one from 55009 was duly removed once we got the call to say it was on its way, once unloaded the tank was installed but as usual with a Deltic, not without a battle. The picture below shows the new tank which was kindly paid for by Steve Plowman as a Donation to the Society. If anyone wishes to do similar for smaller projects like this please contact the Society via my DPS email address mike.hallum-rudd@thedps.onmicrosoft.com

55009 other than the Air Tank loaned to 19 which was reinstalled, no other works were carried out. The air compressor was charged up and both 9 & 19 showed no air leaks.
