Depot Report - Saturday 25th January 2025

Nigel Julian

Today saw another great turnout of volunteers continuing with tasks on the locos, power units and around the depot.

Locomotives:

55009 — At Number 1 end the new quarter light window panel on the secondman's side to replace the damaged one was test fitted to ensure all the holes line up. The electrical cubicle doors were removed for repainting into light grey, and the whole cab is to get a repaint from green to grey in the near future. On the recently prepped bodysides a cab door and the exhauster door were given a test coat of BR Blue.

D9015 — The electricians were carrying on with their work to get the power circuits on the loco working before the loco goes back outside for more testing. More work was done on the air system of the loco to get the train brakes fully operational.

Power Units:

PU423 — The phasing case is into the final stages of being made ready to remove from the engine ready to go away for overhaul when the phasing case for PU430 returns.

Some phasing case parts were located in the stores and will be going to Compact Orbital Gears for assessment.

If they are suitable for use in 430’s phasing case this will save not only extra manufacturing expense but also a ten week lead time.

If you would like to aid with a phasing case overhaul please donate via the link: https://gofund.me/ef4f5238
