The loco batteries were charged.

Progress today was mostly electrical.

Following on from being moved out of the stores last week, the 35ohm coils were fitted into AGC1. Contactors were re-built, tested, and fitted in loco both ends.

As the engine cranks on start up, AGC 1, with number 1 engine, closes at the start as the voltage on the auxiliary generator builds up to 110v and, once the engine starts, the start contactors drop out and a resistor is then in place in series with the 35ohm coil to keep AGC 1 closed.

AGC 2 works in the same way.

The wiring of the changeover switches in each cab was completed.

The loco is again at the stage where it needs to be running in order for equipment that takes its power from the auxiliary generator to be tested.

To facilitate this, Tulyar will be moved outside so number 1 engine (power unit 538) can be started as and when required.

A few more of the small brass plaques were riveted onto the bodyside.

The external appearance of Tulyar is enhanced with the addition of the brass embellishments on the lower bodyside.

Work on Power Unit 430, which will be going into Tulyar as number 2 engine in place of failed PU 417 made good progress with the fitting of the new coolant hoses into the 'triangle'. The three O rings per cylinder bank were replaced with new ones.

430 is almost ready to have the phasing case refitted, once it’s been filled with coolant and checked for any leaks.

The refurbished main and auxiliary generators are ready to be delivered back to the depot.

'Meet and greet' volunteers were again busy engaging with visitors.
