Depot Report - Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd November 2024

55009.

Various areas of the loco's bodywork have been identified as showing signs of corrosion and preparations for repair work are underway. At No.1 end, secondman's side, the cab window has been removed.

D9015.

Investigation continued on 1/11/24 into why the air brake system isn’t working as it should and the cause was further narrowed down as likely to be the Brake Application Unit. This was removed from the loco the next day, and all the components were checked and cleaned, the galleries in the block cleansed and blown through, and everything is now ready to be refitted to the loco.

PU 430.

A coolant leak traced previously was repaired.

A further delivery of newly fabricated power unit hoses has arrived and the ones relevant to 430 were fitted.

Please consider donating to the phasing case overhaul fund raiser if you can. Every £1 helps and is much appreciated.

Depot.

There was another positive day in the long overdue reorganisation of the stores, including items being identified as surplus to requirements.

A number of Metcalfe compressor carcasses have been collected together.

New racking and pallets have been delivered, and on Friday a number of volunteers undertook their regular fork lift truck certification training.
