DEPOT REPORT FOR Saturday 8th March.

mikehallum-rudd

55009.

Following some minor body work being undertaken by Sheaf Engineering, work started on rubbing it down, a small applications of P38 filler before a coat of anti corrosion paint was applied. Unfortunately, the two nose end footsteps are beyond repair so replacements will need to be manufactured and fitted.

Two of the bogie frames were painted black. A start has also been made on painting the roof.

One of the team made a start on tracing back some of the loose wires in the nose ends, which are as we expected connected with the screen wash system. These have all been tidied up and labelled accordingly. A couple of the other 'Delectricians' went round the power units checking all the cables were connected and ok, a few of the main power cable clamps on the main generators were found to be a bit loose and the cables needed a slight adjustment before tightening, all done.

There is supposed to be a feed pipe from the traction motor ducting to blow cool air to the control cubicle especially the Voltage Regulator, this was missing on No. 1 end so the one from No. 2 end was removed for one of the volunteers to take away and fabricate a new one.

At the end of the day, the team spent time updating the electrical jobs list for the loco.

As part of the ongoing investigations into the issues with PU 417, the team found that the main fuel supply pipe had a kink in it, so it was removed and a new replacement fitted. A suspect oil leak on the fuel governor was also investigated and fixed, fuel strainers removed and cleaned. Fuel primed; no leaks found.
