55009 to attend NYMR Diesel Gala

DPS Deltic to guest at NYMR’s Diesel Gala

55009, still carrying the name and number of long-scrapped classmate 55013 The Black Watch, is to return to its first home base when first bought by the DPS in 1982. It is to take part in the NYMR’s Diesel Gala to be staged from Friday June 14 to Sunday June 16. This is the first NYMR Diesel Gala to be held for some years.

Two other guest locomotives - yet to be announced - will join the DPS Deltic, as well as the line’s resident Class 25 D7628 Sybilla and Class 37 37264, recently outshopped in standard BR Blue.

The Gala will feature an intense timetable including evening running. Many services will also be offering a selection of beers and ciders served from the on-board buffet bars.

Day Tickets for railway are £49.50 for adults, with a 12 month Annual Pass of free return visits included; kids (aged 0-15) also go free. If a valid Annual Pass is held, entry to the event is included. For more information and to book tickets, visit https://www.nymr.co.uk/diesel-gala

55009 (55013) is due to stay at the NYMR after the Diesel Gala for several weeks, during which time it will undertake further duties. These will be publicised on the DPS website as soon as they are confirmed.

Be good to see her back where she began her heritage career, all those years ago now.
