Latest Appeal
Thanks to so many kind-hearted donors, we have raised a significant portion of the funds needed to return 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier to main line standard, and so become a second DPS Deltic capable of charter work on Network Rail.
Having completed three successful appeals for latest equipment since 55019 last ran on the network some 20 years ago - GSM-R (radio equipment), TPWS (train protection warning system components) and OTMR (on-train monitoring recorder) we are now left with only one target - to raise the money to certificate OTMR by an external agency and for independent engineering assessments.
The latest news is that it is now likely the DPS’ own electricians will be fitting the actual equipment. However, it will be necessary to contract out the certification to an approved supplier to ensure compliance issues are adequately and safely met.
In addition, an independent assessor will be looking at the bogies to ensure they are compliant and meet the mandatory standards. All brake cylinders have already been overhauled.
Finally, we will eventually be contacting our certification consultant, Technical Construction, Eastleigh, who so admirably helped us return 55009 Alycidon to main line status.
If you can help us with any amount, this will be much appreciated. What a treat it will be to see RFH back on 100mph duty once more!
