While D9009 was running to Liverpool and back, other DPS volunteers were working at Barrow Hill. Graham Clarke reports:
Last Saturday I was at BH with Mike and Geoff. Geoff was busy painting draw gear for 15 and cleaning dust off the bogies. Mike worked on fuel tank connections and helped me with preparing TM flexible conduit fittings for reuse. They are all that will fit under the nose floor, because the space is so tight. The bonus is that the new Kopex flexible conduit is exactly the same size now as it was 50 years ago! Therefore, i can use the old fittings again. It is still proving really difficult to fit, but I have made solid progress at last. The fittings to the motor terminal boxes will all be new.
The two air tanks under the battery boxes were also refitted to 55015 by Steve. Thanks for this work. Geoff and I had put them roughly in place the previous Saturday.
Many congratulations to my colleagues for a successful tour to Liverpool and back from York.
