The Deltic Preservation Society owns three locomotives, two of which – D9009 Alycidon and 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier – are currently operational.
Main Line hire
D9009 is fully main line certified and able to haul charter trains and undertake ‘drag’ moves to/from preserved railways and galas. During 2013, the loco has undertaken railtour work for Pathfinder Tours and the A1 Steam Loco Trust, and has also been used to haul locos to events at the Mid Hants Railway, Swanage Railway, Didcot Railway Centre and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The loco is fitted with both air and vacuum brakes, and has operational ETH equipment. The loco was equipped with GSM-R equipment last year, enabling it to work throughout the country.
Preserved Railway hire
As well as being available for use on the main line, D9009 can also be used on preserved railways, and has during the past year operated on several railways. 55019 is also available for use on preserved railways, and also has both air and vacuum brakes.
Over the years, our locos have been displayed at many Open Days and other events, most recently at Grantham and Doncaster alongside steam loco ‘MALLARD’.
