It is with deep sorrow that we have to announce that former DPS Chairman David Carter passed away on October 7th. Stuart Page writes:
It is with great sadness to announce the passing away of David Carter, who was the first Deltic Preservation Society Chairman. David was involved at a unique stage in the development of the DPS and became the first Chairman on October 25th 1980, a position which he held until April 22nd 1983. Other duties he undertook over the years included Railtours Officer, organising tours like the North Briton and the Deltic Salute, a duty continued by wife Vera Carter. He was also the local coordinator for the North East, constantly campaigning for press coverage around the Cleveland area over the years, providing much interest to the local residents who discovered what a Deltic was.
We offer our sincere condolence to all his family and friends.
