With D9009 currently planned to be out once each month between June and October, here is a summary of its booked outings:
Saturday 16th June – The Albert Gilmour Memorial tour: 52A Tours advise that there are still some seats available on this trip, featuring ‘ALYCIDON’ from Newcastle to King’s Cross and back – over 500 miles of Deltic haulage on the ECML. Pick-ups are Linlithgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, York and Doncaster. Full details, and an online booking facility, are available HERE, although DPS members who wish to obtain a £5 discount on advertised fares (one discounted ticket per member) will need to book by post – a downloadable booking form is HERE.
Saturday 21st July – The Talisman: This A1 Steam Locomotive Trust charter from King’s Cross/Potters Bar/Peterborough to Newcastle and back, using 60163 ‘TORNADO’ on the outward leg and D9009 ‘ALYCIDON’ on the return, is now fully booked.
Saturday 25th August – The Deltic Retro Scot III: Retro Railtours’ 10th anniversary tour, taking D9009 on a circular tour from Huddersfield, Marsden, Stalybridge, Manchester, Wigan and Preston to Edinburgh, out via the WCML and back to York via the ECML is now open for online bookings – full details HERE. DPS members can obtain a £5 discount (one per member) by using the postal booking form downloadable HERE.
Saturday 29th September – The Deltic Deviator: A Pathfinder trip from Willington, Ilkeston, Alfreton, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Moorthorpe and York, taking in various Deltic diversionary routes, along with a break in Carlisle and journey over the S&C. The train is currently around half full. Full details and online bookings can be found HERE. Like the 52A and Retro trips, DPS members can benefit from a £5 reduction on the advertised fares on this tour. To obtain the discount, please book direct with the Pathfinder Office (by post, phone or fax) giving your names/DPS membership number(s) of each person you are booking for and a discount of £5 will be given per member.
Sunday 7th October – The Auld Reekie: Another tour from the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust using ‘TORNADO’ and ‘ALYCIDON’, this time from Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds and York to Edinburgh. Steam northbound and Deltic hauled from Edinburgh to Doncaster. Further details can be found HERE.
