New D9009 gallery

D9009 had a successful weekend at the ELR on March 8th & 9th, undertaking all its booked workings at the diesel gala alongside the ELR’s home fleet. A gallery has been created to cover the loco’s workings on the line and and be found by clicking here.

During that week, subject to numbers and RO availability, there will be working parties every day. D9009 works ELR Driver Experience

Having run light engine from Barrow Hill to Bury yesterday, D9009 ‘ALYCIDON’ undertook its first duty of 2014 at the ELR today, when it was employed on a Driver Experience course. The pictures below were taken by Stuart Page:

AGM Update

We have been advised that 55002 ‘THE KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY’ will still be at Carnforth on Saturday pending a test run, which means that the planned tours of the loco before the AGM and after the lunch break will, unfortunately, not be able to take place. Guided tours of the NRM itself, which will hopefully include some ‘Deltic’ related exhibits, will still take place at 10.15 and 13.15 – if you are interested, please e-mail DPS Vice Chairman Jim Dedicoat on vicechairman@thedps.co.uk to reserve your place.

D9009 move to Bury

Movement of D9009 to the East Lancashire Railway for its visit is expected to take place on Thursday 27th February, leaving Barrow Hill around 10.30. More details should be available in the next few days.

DPS Annual General Meeting – Saturday March 1st

As members will be aware, the Annual General Meeting of the Deltic Preservation Society takes place at the National Railway Museum on Saturday March 1st. Doors open at 10am.  Entry is via the conference centre entrance (further up Leeman Road than the main entrance).  The meeting is being held in the Walker Suite. For those of you coming by car, you may park in the NRM car park and a gate code will be issued at the meeting so you do not need to pay.  Please remember the car park next to the museum is now private and you have to park on the opposite side of Leeman Road in the ‘new’ NRM car park.

There are museum tours at 10.15am and 1.15pm.  To book contact vicechairman@thedps.co.uk. At present, we are unsure if 55002 will be back at York by March 1st so the tours of KOYLI may not be able to go ahead.
You will be asked to register on arrival so please bring your membership card with you.  Papers will be issued to those registered for the meeting. The formal meeting begins at 11.00 and will be followed by a lunch break from around 13.00 to 14.00.
In the afternoon, there will be the Lord Nelson Memorial Lecture, a slide show ‘The DPS through the years’  followed by a Question & Answer session and the annual Auction. We expect the meeting to close at 16.30, but if you are booking advance tickets, please allow a little extra time in case we overrun slightly.
