ELR Diesel Gala

D9009 ‘Alycidon’ is planned to be used on Sunday July 7th at the ELR’s diesel gala. Subject to final confirmation (as changes have had to be made due to non-availability of locos), D9009 should work the following services:

10.44 Bury-Ramsbottom, 11.34 Ramsbottom-Bury, 14.30 Bury-Rawtenstall, 16.16 Rawtenstall-Heywood, 17.25 Heywood-Bury.

On Friday and Saturday, 55022 ‘Royal Scots Grey’ will be in use (including working a ‘Diesel Diner’ on Friday evening), the loco having arrived back at the ELR on Sunday 30th June. The full event timetable and roster can be found by following the link at http://www.elrdiesel.info/events.php

Another successful tour for ‘Alycidon’

D9009 ‘Alycidon’ had another successful trip on Saturday when it powered Pathfinder’s ‘Mazey Day Cornishman’ from Tame Bridge Parkway to Penzance and back – the first time the loco has ever been this far  south, and becoming only the second Deltic to venture into Cornwall. The tour ran over 50 minutes early at one point on the return, although regulation for service trains around and north of Bristol meant this was lost by the time the train arrived back at Tame Bridge.

Below are a couple of photos of the tour at its destination, Penzance.
